Pastor Randy grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he majored in Sociology and Religion (and minored in Ancient Biblical Languages). He received his Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary also in Columbus. Along the way, he became a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) in the state of Ohio. He has worked as an inpatient chemical dependency counselor, a camp counselor at Camp Lutherock in North Carolina, headed a food pantry in Columbus, as well as other interesting and not so interesting jobs. He did his internship at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha, Wisconsin. He has also served as a field or intern supervisor to 13 master degree students. Pastor Randy has served three parishes before coming to Christ the Redeemer: Grace Lutheran - Lancaster, OH; Calvary Lutheran - Chillicothe, OH; and David Lutheran - Canal Winchester, OH.

          Pastor Randy was recently married to Pastor Karen Liddy who is the pastor or Peace Lutheran Church in Ashland, Ohio. Pastor Randy also has grown twin daughters who currently live in Ohio and are members of CRLC. In addition to reading, movie and sports watching, Pastor Randy is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

I believe God is with us on that journey constantly reaching out to us to shape, challenge, redeem, forgive, and lead us into realizing our potential as a child of God. I also believe that God desires us to share in this journey as much as possible as we together strive to serve one another as we seek to live in and grow the Reign of God."

Joanna Pretz-AndersonIMG 0683.Joanna.2014

Deacon:  Worship and Music

Joanna joined the CRLC staff in September 2001. She began playing the organ for worship services at the age of 16 and achieved the Bachelor of Music (Church Music) degree in 1977 from Wittenberg University, Springfield OH and a Master of Arts (Church Music) degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus OH in 2000. She is an active member of Choristers Guild and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, serving as their national advertising coordinator. Joanna also teaches private piano lessons.

Joanna is married to David P. Anderson, pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Medina. They have 2 adult daughters who live in the Cleveland area.


"My personal mission statement is to lead the assembly in its song in worship and to plan worship which reflects the whole body of Christ and draws us into relationship with God and with other believers. I am called to do this through leadership in worship on the piano and organ, in leadership with the choirs (who serve as worship leaders) and through team leadership with other volunteers and staff. We use the talents with which God has gifted each of us, and raise our voices in confession, praise, proclamation, and prayer. The Holy Spirit 'gathers us around Jesus Christ in word and sacrament, and sends us, enlivened, to share the good news of life in God.'"

Jill Koubal--Parish NurseIMG 0280.Jill.2014

Jill is a lifelong Lutheran - she was even born at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland!  She received her B.S.N. from Valparaiso University in Indiana.  Her work as an RN began at Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland where she gathered experience in surgery, oncology, orthopedics, maternity, childbirth education and home care.  

Her work as a parish nurse began in August 1994 through the Fairview Hospital Parish Nurse program.  She received training and certification through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center.  In addition she has served as an instructor in their “Foundations of Faith Community Nursing” (Parish Nurse) training locally.  She serves as a co-leader for the Northeast Ohio Faith Community-Parish Nurses organization.

She has extensive background in teaching and facilitating including:  American Heart Association CPR instructor, baby-sitter training (Safe Sitter® program), Stephen Ministry  Leader, “Circle of Life” wholistic health program facilitator, “Chronic Disease Self-Management” facilitator, VBS health classes and other community presentations.  Throughout her adult life God as provided growth and learning opportunities through family health and aging challenges which have been incorporated into her knowledge base and work as a parish nurse.

As a parish nurse, she provides assistance to the congregation and community via health counseling, health education programs, home and hospital visits, as a community resource person, bereavement support, and participates in healing services.  She treasures the opportunity to combine her faith and her nursing profession.

Jill is married to Karl, a retired Industrial Arts teacher who always creating, repairing or adapting items.  Their greater family system is significantly influenced in the areas of medicine, teaching and engineering.  One son & his wife are mechanical engineers and their second son is an electrical engineer.


My personal mission statement:  “I believe that the quality of our lives is improved when we acknowledge the interrelationship of our body, mind and spirit.  I am called to seek & acknowledge God’s presence in my life and in the lives of others in the midst of change, challenges and joys.”

Paul Travaglianti--Youth MinistryIMG 0281.Paul.2014

Paul is a lifelong resident of Brecksville, Ohio. He graduated from Cleveland State University. Throughout his life, he has been active with youth of all ages through managing youth softball and baseball and coaching soccer, basketball and football plus escorting student tours to various destinations. He has been married to Jeanne for 29 years, has three sons and works for Great Day! Tours.

At Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, he mentors Confirmation students, leads missions trips, teaches Sunday School, conducts adult classes, works with youth on service projects like serving at a homeless shelter, works with the first communion classes, coordinates youth Sundays (where the youth are active in the service), pitches for the men's softball team and assists with the education department. He chaperones a variety of youth events including lock-ins, bowling, 30-hour famine, scavenger hunts, fundraisers and a variety of other youth events.
